So iLL was founded in 1997 by Dave and Daniel Chancellor, built directly out of their own climbing scene. From their first holds to their climbing shoes, it was never about mass production, but about creating products they actually wanted to use themselves.

Later shaped by the experience of Fred Nicole and Jae Jung, the shoe line evolved into a blend of design, performance, and character, deliberately different from the traditional climbing market.
